Barry Lynch: First blog as new CEO of Factora

It’s November 6th, 2018. I’m just finishing my second working day as Factora’s new CEO.

While the announcement of my new position may have come as a surprise to many people, internally we have been preparing for this all year. In fact, Charles has been directly preparing for this for the past 3 years, and indirectly for most of his career.

Over my time working in large corporations I developed four key rules to managing a business:

  1. Hire the best people
  2. Know your customer and your value to them
  3. Keep moving forward
  4. Be fiscally responsible.

Charles Horth started Factora 23 years ago, working from his house with his wife Brigitte. They followed these four rules diligently and have positioned Factora on a solid foundation for growth and expansion.

My plans going forward

I’ve known most of the Factora executive team for over 20 years. We’ve worked together in various roles in different companies. Even before I joined Factora, we all had strong bonds of trust and appreciation for our individual strengths. So as the VP of Sales & Marketing for the past 2 years, this step is a natural evolution, not a revolution.

The pressure now is to live up to the trust Charles has placed in me to take over the reins and make sure his baby flourishes. The words he said to me last week were touching, typical of his blend of humanity and business smarts: “It’s your turn to be the dad now. I’ll be the grandfather.“

My plan is to stick to my four rules to accelerate our growth and presence around the world, while maintaining our Factorian culture. I know we will be successful. I’m building on a strong foundation and I’m surrounded by and have the backing of the best people in the industry. Better yet – unlike when Charles and Brigitte started this company 23 years ago – I have a secret weapon. A grandfather who knows a thing or two about running a successful integration business 😊.

Thank you, Charles, Brigitte, Brent and Paul, for making life fun every day. I see great times ahead, for every Factora customer and every member of the Factora team.
